That would be EAA’s Aluminum Overcast . Beautiful bird.

I saw the picture on the Oppo FP and thought it was a formation. This is definitely air show season. Where did you take this? There’s a B-17G scheduled to appear at the Central Texas Air Show in Temple this weekend. Probably the same one I photographed back in 2012. Looks like your might be the same one.

I’m starting to get the airshow itch, trouble is my local one is cancelled this year due to a crash last year. I’ll have to travel this year if I want to see one.

My guess would be the Denver area based on this:

I drove 3.5 hours (one away) to Fort Worth two weeks ago for a show. The Central Texas show is this weekend, and it’s less than an hour away, but I’m busy all weekend and can’t go. First time I haven’t gone in years. I’m pretty bummed.

I think you’re right. The tail flash looks right. And it would have appeared darker in MonkeyPuzzle’s photo if it were painted green. Good call.

I can’t say for sure, but I think EAA’s might be the only one left flying that isn’t painted green.

Man, a 3.5 hour drive would get me to so many airshows. I’ll see air displays at Goodwood Festival of Speed and may well visit Eastbourne.

I’ve driven over 4 hours (one way) to a show down in south Texas at NAS Kingsville. When you enter Texas on the east side on Interstate 10, it’s over 850 miles to El Paso on the west side.

The longest drive I’ve ever done was 330 miles from Land’s end at the southwestern tip of the UK to almost directly below London. It took 9 hours because of the backwards road network in the southeast and multiple stops in a car I bought with a broken gearbox (I only had 4th). Texas is a huge place, population density is a bit lower though.

Density is lower on the whole, but the cities are getting more crowded by the day. Five of the top ten fastest growing cities in the US are in Texas.

Just build new cities, see Milton Keynes or Harlow. It would be handy if we could spread people out more, England’s population is near double that of texas, but the population of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is only around 10 million.
